To Team or Not to Team

Some people say that collaboration is the key to success. Others  believe working alone is more efficient. This past week, I have read articles and participated in activities to reach the decision of working alone or with a g roup of people on the magazine.  This decision is extremely important  and can determine  whether  my magazine is successful.    My initial plan was to work alone on the project, but I was genuinely surprised at what I found in the articles regarding teamwork , especially regarding  what  really  makes a team  successfu l.  In one article,  Team Building and Group Dynamics: Creating and Fostering a Culture of Teamwork Requires Trust, Collaboration, and Accountability ,  a team of forty skilled individuals were put together to work for Microsoft for a  six-month  period  (Becker, 2015) . Decision Day

After weeks of gathering experience with software and viewing examples, the time has finally come to make my choice of whether I wish to pursue the movie project or the magazine project.    To be completely honest, I was, and still am, intimidated by both programs. Each has  complex menus, options, layouts, file trans fers, and  commands, and I feel as if I still do not totally understand either  one.  They are both hugely overwhelming.  However, I do have a good enough comprehension of both to list some of the pros and cons of each.   Adobe Premiere Pro i s a  creative  video editing and production software. I was shocked at how much I was able to do on the app.  When you start your  project , the four different editing screens/ sections are well organized and make the software seem less daunting to use.             Unlike the moving images and music of a movie’s opening scene,  magazines must capture the attention of their audience with pristine visuals, sleek  covers and aesthetics, and  interesting articles.  In contrast to movies, however, magazines tend to cater to a more specific audience, allowing for many creative opportunities.  The creative direction these magazines take must simultaneously appeal to a group, create a certain ambiance , keep subscribers loyal, and earn the attention of advertisers.   In earlier magazines, it was commonplace to have lengthy articles unbroken by visuals or ads.  However, this is no longer an effective strategy to get more readers; in fact, it does the opposite.
