Annotated Bibliography
This is an annotated bibliography of all the sources I've used. Most of the research was done in or with the class, but I took time to do some on my own as well. Some of the sources are testimonials from other editors or team builders, and some are tips on the publishing and distribution process. My research covers an extensive list of topics, all of which helped me become successful in understanding the creation of Marigold.

The authors, John H Bradley and Frederic J Herbert, perform a scientific study and survey exploring how differing personality types between team members affects performance. The study consisted of two teams that created information system (IS) software, with factors such as cohesion, intra-team communication, effective leadership, and personality type. In the study, both teams were told to make a specific IS software; however, one team made the software in 2 years and it was only of moderate quality, while the other was done in one year and of high quality. Results showed that the second team had a better balance of personality types, and therefore, they worked better to complement each other’s abilities. This study, while not broad enough to apply generally, does show that personality type can have a significant impact on how people work together.

Some editors find they are more able to get things done when they publish themselves, and can send out more specific messages in their magazines used to inspire others. This was helpful in showing the positive effects of working alone and publishing alone.

“Tips for a Magazine Launch.” Edited by Dazzle Printing, Dazzle Printing, 20 Mar. 2021, www.dazzleprinting.com/blog/tips-for-a-magazine-launch/.
This blog post by print publishing company Dazzle Printing outlines important components of a magazine launch party. It mentions that a launch party’s main purpose is to generate excitement and attract publishers, distributors, and advertisers. According to the post, launch parties should have some sort of refreshments or free gifts for the attendees. The gifts/giveaways should be related to your magazine in some way, so that publishers and distributors remember it. There should also be print copies of the magazine available for people to take home, and even early subscription registrations if it is a bigger publication. The parties should be promoted through social media if possible, and advertisers should be there so others can get a sense of what your magazine is about. This article is written to help and encourage other independent publishers to prepare for a launch and to print with the company. The advice in the post was useful in creating the launch party invite I created for question 2 of the creative critical reflection.
